Just KNEW it was gonna be one of those days - Laskari fell and hampered Craiglands doubt either would have won, but might have placed as they are stayers on. The winner Calgary Bay was 3rd bottom of AM ratings, in fact rated about 242 pts lower than Craiglands ...
S'pose have to look at bigger picture as stats have stood in good stead with previous sels, but today was the day some were ripe for a fall ...again, every single stat in the book was against Poquelin, who still won will build into the selection strategy in future ...meanwhile, sorry guys |

SPECIAL CUVEE 4.30 Wolves
Has regained some form on his last 2 runs after the fitting of a visor, looking as if a step up in trip would suit on both occasions. Running here off a mark of 54 having started the year on 77.
Join Up is a worthy fav and will take some beating, though on a line through Topcroft he has something to find with the selection.
Clear top-rated by Massey and others.
RP forecast of 5-1.

fair bit o money for it this am, is now 7/2 market leader
What's staking Clocks? If you're not around and don't see this post before the off, we'll assume 1pt win. |

nah Clocks, sometimes they just run stinkers and can't explain that they had a headache ...
Right, today, feel reasonably confident about the sel but that could easily be misplaced confidence ...main reason being that nearest rival (imho) Ellerslie George is a n/r ...so you'll gather that the sel is in the
3.25 2m 6f Class 2 Pertemps Handicap Hurdle (series Qualifier) (4yo plus) and is
CHIEF YEOMAN current bp 9/2 b365
VW still has other runners Stow and Quickbeam in it, but they are bottom 2 of market at big prices; she's withdrawn Aachen. Yard is in decent form (rtf 64%), jock Coleman not particularly so but Wincanton one of his best tracks and has profitable record there, esp with VW. Turftrax, my usual source of stats, are still in their Xmas slumbers with no data available, but CHIEF YEOMAN won his sole run (mdn hdle) at the course back in Oct 03, and has won at today's trip in soft at Sandown, 31/1/09 under Coleman, so conditions should be no problem, and has performed well in Dec also. Weight also looks good.
Here's Spotty: " Chief Yeoman: Nicely in off a mark just 1lb higher than when landing a big prize over this trip at Sandown in January; satisfactory reappearance last month, stable´s main hope on jockey bookings and expected to make his presence felt."
A shame that the weather has decimated so many runners (and othe races), but is just about still an e/w price, so I'm going e/w to potentially minimize losses despite only 1/5th odds - I was sorry I didn't do this last time in similar circs, when sel placed.
So the recommendation is CHIEF YEOMAN 0.5 pt E/W (1/5) 9/2 Betfred and Coral, 4/1 elsewhere. If the price doesn't last long I'll have to make it 1pt win. |

well that was another stinker ... either didn't get into it, or not put into it by jock - I'll be getting onto that "why they ran badly" section of the BHB soon as anything goes up there... |

Hope 2010 starts better than 2009 finished.
"Tony Culhane, the rider of SPECIAL CUVEE, reported that the gelding was never travelling."
Great help that is! |

the AW is not a favourite of mine as a betting medium, but its all thats left so!!
Dr Wintringham has run over a mile on the turf but never on the AW, running over
7f last time out he didn't really get going untill after halfway, but ran on well to take 2nd in the last 50yds, over a mile today the distance should suit.
there's a couple of ifs, so not an overly confident selection so anything over 9/2 would be an e.w bet
2.10 LING Dr Wintringham stake 0.5pt ew

Brian, my Q about slow times was re SOUTHWELL due to the unique fibresand surface there.
Do you wanna still stick with your sel?
A no-bet is always an option here, esp with such limited possibilities available. |
